Leon County Supervisor of Elections Announces 2026 Candidate Qualifying Dates
Leon County, FL – Mark S. Earley, Supervisor of Elections for Leon County, announces 2026 candidate qualifying dates for local offices in Leon County. “Candidate qualifying is a critical part of our elections,” said Supervisor Earley. “This is the final step that establishes who will appear on our ballots. Anyone planning to run for local office must make sure to carefully follow the required steps to qualify. Recent legislation made changes to qualifying paperwork, so candidates should ensure they are using current forms and following the latest laws.”
The qualifying period runs from noon on Monday, June 8 through noon on Friday, June 12. To qualify for office and appear on the ballot, candidates for local office must submit complete qualifying paperwork and any qualifying fees to the Elections Office by the end of this period.
Candidates can also pre-qualify by submitting their paperwork up to two weeks before the start of the qualifying period, which may be a convenient option to complete paperwork in advance of strict deadlines.
During the pre-qualifying and qualifying periods, the Elections Office has staff on standby to assist candidates with submitting their qualifying paperwork. Candidates are encouraged to call ahead to schedule an appointment with one of the Office's qualifying experts.
The following local offices are currently up for election in Leon County:
