Leon County Supervisor of Elections Mails Ballots for 2026 General Election
Leon County, FL – Mark S. Earley, Supervisor of Elections for Leon County, announces the mailing of Vote-by-Mail ballots for the 2026 General Election.
"Voting by mail in this election will follow the same laws and procedures as other recent elections," said Supervisor Earley. "Voters can be confident that our system for mail voting in Florida is safe and effective. Every voter who wants to Vote-by-Mail has the right, under Florida law, to request and return their ballot."
The Elections Office will mail out over 32,000 Vote-by-Mail ballots to Leon County voters this week. In addition, the Office has already sent out over 750 ballots to military and overseas voters, so they have extra time to receive and return their ballot.
Voters who have a Vote-by-Mail ballot request on file can expect delivery of their ballot during the next week. Voters who have requested a ballot but have not received it by October 1 are encouraged to contact the Elections Office to confirm their mailing address and other information. All Vote-by-Mail ballot requests expire at the end of each election year, so voters who requested a ballot in 2024 must renew their request to receive a ballot for the 2026 General Election.
If a voter has not yet requested a Vote-by-Mail ballot, there is still time to do so. The deadline to request a ballot be mailed for the General Election is October 22. Mail ballot requests can be made at LeonVotes.gov/RequestVBM or by calling the Elections Office at (850) 606-8683.
"I encourage every voter who wants to Vote-by-Mail to submit their request as soon as possible," said Supervisor Earley. "If you already have a request on file, double check that your information is up to date. And, once you receive your ballot, please mark and return it quickly to ensure that it will arrive in time for us to count it."
Florida law requires mail ballots to be received in the Elections Office by 7 p.m. on Election Day, November 3, in order to be counted (there is a special 10-day extension for ballots from overseas voters). To ensure your ballot is delivered in time, the United States Postal Service recommends that voters mail their ballots at least one week before Election Day.
Voters do not need to use a stamp to return their ballot, as the Elections Office, in partnership with the Leon County Commission, has prepaid the postage on the return envelopes. Alternatively, ballots can be dropped off at any Early Voting site during voting hours. Each Early Voting site has a secure ballot intake station, providing voters with the option of returning their ballot directly to local election officials. Ballots may also be dropped off at the Elections Office, located at 2990-1 Apalachee Parkway, during business hours. Voted ballots must be returned in the provided envelope, with the voter’s signature and date signed.
Voters with questions are encouraged to contact the Supervisor of Elections Office at Vote@LeonVotes.gov, or (850) 606-8683, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5 p.m.
