Leon County Supervisor of Elections Mails Ballots for 2026 Primary Election
Leon County, FL – Mark S. Earley, Supervisor of Elections for Leon County, announces the mailing of Vote-by-Mail ballots for the 2026 Primary Election. "This week, my office will mail out over 27,000 Vote-by-Mail ballots to Leon County voters,” said Supervisor Earley. “In addition, we have already sent out over 600 ballots to military and overseas voters, so they have extra time to receive and return their ballot.”
Voters who have a Vote-by-Mail ballot request on file can expect delivery of their ballot during the next week. Voters who have requested a ballot but have not received it by July 23 are encouraged to contact the Elections Office to confirm their mailing address and other information. All Vote-by-Mail ballot requests expire at the end of each election year, so voters who requested a ballot in 2024 must renew their request to receive a ballot for the 2026 Primary or General Elections.
If a voter has not yet requested a Vote-by-Mail ballot, there is still time to do so. The deadline for requesting a ballot be mailed to you for the Primary Election is August 6, but please do not delay. Mail ballot requests can be made at LeonVotes.gov/RequestVBM or by calling the Elections Office at (850) 606-8683.
Unlike other states you may have heard about in the news, Florida law requires mail ballots to be received in the Elections Office by 7 p.m. on Election Day, August 18, or we cannot count them. To ensure your ballot is delivered to us in time, the United States Postal Service recommends that voters mail their ballots at least one week before Election Day. Voters do not need to use a stamp to return their ballot, as the Elections Office has prepaid the postage on the return envelope. “Every voter has the option to request and return a mail ballot, and here in Leon County we will not let a stamp be a barrier to casting your ballot," said Supervisor Earley.
Alternatively, ballots can be dropped off at any Early Voting site during voting hours. Each Early Voting site has a secure ballot intake station, providing voters with the option of returning their ballot directly to local election officials. Ballots may also be dropped off at the Elections Office, located at 2990-1 Apalachee Parkway, during business hours. Voted ballots must be returned in the provided envelope, with the voter’s signature and date signed.
Voters with questions are encouraged to contact the Supervisor of Elections Office at Vote@LeonVotes.gov, or (850) 606-8683, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5 p.m.
