Citizen Initiatives

Residents of Leon County have the option to create and support initiatives to change the Leon County Charter and the Florida Constitution. In addition, residents of Tallahassee can support initiatives to change city ordinances. This process is known as a citizen initiative. Read below for further information about the initiative process.

Florida Constitutional Amendment Initiatives

Leon County Charter and Ordinance Initiatives

Any resident of Leon County can propose an amendment to the county charter or county ordinances. Visit the Leon County charter and ordinance initiatives page to learn more about the process.

Tallahassee City Charter Initiatives

Any resident of Tallahassee can propose an amendment to the city charter. Visit the Tallahassee city charter initiatives page to learn more about the process.

Petition Verification Fees

Sponsors of statewide citizen initiatives must pay 84 cents per petition verified (Last updated 2/2/2024).

Sponsors of local citizen initiatives must pay 10 cents per petition verified (Last updated 2/2/2024).

The fee must be paid upon submission of a batch of petitions (100.371(11)(b),F.S.).
